Immerse yourself in the ancient art of foraging for food & medicine, and learn how to prepare wild fibres and weave vessels from the land

Myrtle & Emma warmly invite you to join them for a weekend of foraging for wild food and materials to weave your own unique small vessels, and preparing and sharing wild food.

Early summer brings a tapestry of woodland and hedgerow species, with an abundance of wild food, medicine and foraged fibres perfect for gathering.

Our home for the weekend is in the heart of OrganicARTS at West Town Farm in Ide, with covered outdoor spaces, and handmade wild refreshments provided.

We’ll spend part of the weekend out exploring & gathering, returning to our camp with everything needed to process and weave a unique gathering pouch with wild fibres, and dive deeper into connecting with wild food.

  1. You will learn the following:

    • Explore sensory ways to find and meet plants which can be used for weaving and creating vessels.
    • Experience the vibrant and empowering traditional skills of working with foraged fibres, preparing, processing and weaving a gathering pouch with seasonally available plant materials such as dandelion, nettle, willow, willowherb & iris.
    • Meet wild edible plants at home in hedgerows and woodlands, hear about the tales they have to tell and how our culture is tightly interwoven with the story of plants.
    • Learn how to prepare simple wild food recipes, shared together
  2. About the course:

    • No fibres or foraging experience is required.
    • This course suitable for those aged 18+, or 14+ with an accompanying adult.
    • A reasonable degree of fitness and mobility is needed. We’ll cover some slightly uneven ground and walk up to two miles at a gentle pace with frequent stops.
    • Please bring your lunch on both days to supplement the wild refreshments.
